There's a fun little story about that that ties into the origin of Dot X as a story!
Dot X was created by me and my friends way back in 4th grade, in the long past year of 2003. Back then we were just playing around as the cast of the Sonic games at recess, but we quickly built up a cast of our own characters because we had more fun acting as a character WE made up rather than a character from a video game. The Sonic characters remained a part of it, though. Once we hit 8th grade or so, I retconned the Sonic characters out of Dot X so it'd just be about the characters we created, though there was one exception. Tails was too important a character plot-wise as Pudding's older brother, so I re-wrote his personality until it was warped significantly from his SEGA counterpart. The name 'Miles' stuck as a homage to the character's origin, though at this point he really is a DotX character above all else!
"Yeah! Then I hit him with a lamp."
